La Mediterranean Iceberg Association es un espacio de creación artística, histórica, científica, interdisciplinar que reúne colaboradores de distintos países en torno al iceberg real, posible y probable, así como al iceberg improbable y fantástico, comprendiendo como tal las siguientes dos acepciones que aparecen en el Diccionario de la Real Academia Española: “Fantasía: Facultad que tiene el ánimo de reproducir por medio de imágenes las cosas pasadas o lejanas, de representar las ideales en forma sensible o de idealizar las reales." Y esta otra: "Fantasía: Grado superior de la imaginación; la imaginación en cuanto inventa o produce."

Hay que tener tesón. Hay que tener fe. Observamos y disfrutamos en la búsqueda. Sabemos valorar la lentitud y el silencio de los icebergs, así como hemos aprendido a amar la lentitud y el silencio de las nubes. No tenemos prisa, ya aparecerán. Porque -como dijo la poeta- los icebergs son necesarios al alma, formados ambos por los elementos menos visibles. Lo importante en este viaje a Ítaca no es alcanzar el destino, sino el propio viaje. En la Mediterranean Iceberg Association buscamos el iceberg mediterráneo con la convicción con la que Alonso Quijano veía gigantes, aunque algunos descreídos pensasen que eran molinos, allá ellos...Y una vez más nos dejamos mecer por la poesía:

 “Es mejor tener el iceberg que el barco”.

Mediterranean Iceberg Association

We, the members of the Mediterranean Iceberg Association enjoy the still sea gazing with the hope of the unlikely appearance of a perfect iceberg in front of our Mediterranean beach. Our members from territories with more possibilities of success in such search, like Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Chile, Argentina or Australia, are for the rest of members a valuable source of information and documents that certify the existence of these frozen giants, and this fulfill our hope, which is the last thing to go.

The Mediterranean Iceberg Association is a meeting place open to art, history, science and any interdisciplinary creation in order to gather collaborators from different countries around the real, possible and probable iceberg, and on another hand, the unlikely and fantastic iceberg, considering the two senses we can find in the Dictionary of the Real Academia Española: “Fantasy: faculty of producing images of past or far things, reproduce the ideal ones or idealize the real ones” And another one: “Fantasy: The imagination in its higher degree; something that is produced or created by the imagination.”

You have to be tenacious. You must have faith. We watch and enjoy the search. We know how to appreciate the slowness and silence of the iceberg, for we have learned to love the slowness and silence of the clouds. No rush, they will arrive. Because Icebergs behoove the soul, both being self-made from elements least visible, as the poet said. The main goal in this journey to Ithaca is not to reach our destination, but the journey itself. In the Mediterranean Iceberg Association we search for the Mediterranean iceberg with the same belief with which Don Quixote watched the giants, although some skeptics believed they were windmills, it´s up to them… And once again, let the poetry rock us:
